Northern Pictures partners with Sinking Ship on teen dance series
Canadian prodco Sinking Ship is co-developing live-action teen show Dance Spies with Australia's Northern Pictures.
Sinking Ship Entertainment and Australia’s Northern Pictures are co-developing a new live-actioner for teens called Dance Spies from Hardball creator Guy Edmonds.
The series takes place at an elite dance school, and follows the exploits of a group of teens as they secretly train in the art of espionage.
Dance-focused shows continue to be a hit with kids. This year alone, Peacock picked up unscripted series The Siwa Dance Pop Revolution, Sesame teamed up with Australian children’s music group The Wiggles to create new content; and Federation Kids and Family’s Find Me in Paris expanded into more territories.
This new partnership comes as Sinking Ship continues to expand its kids and family content portfolio. The Toronto-based studio picked up global distribution rights outside of the US to animated series Alma’s Way, and Apple TV+ recently greenlit its live-action/CGI kids series Jane, which is inspired by the life of Dr. Jane Goodall.
